A before and after slideshow of a recent job that involved decking, turfing, paving and, a very happy customer. We have now updated our Facebook page. Please feel free to like our page. Paul Smith Landscaping is a family run business that started through Paul’s hobby and love of gardening. Paul was encouraged to take the plunge and turn something he loved into a business to be proud of. His hard work and dedication has seen the business bloom and continues to do so. Family and friends play a big part in the business with Paul’s wife Cathy running the business side from home, ensuring customer’s needs are met and close friends that have become members of the ground force team who work with Paul daily. The business offers different services, from simple grass cutting and garden maintenance to larger bespoke landscaping projects, no job is too big or too small. Paul Smith Landscaping also specialise in tree surgery, including felling and pruning; whether you have one tree or an orchard, Paul Smith Landscaping will undertake your requirements to the highest standards. Paul was born and raised in Outwell with his mum and dad. He is the middle child of 5 having 2 older sisters and a younger sister and brother. His parents Ron and Bet had a smallholding and when Paul finished school for the day and in the school holidays, he would help his mum and dad with the work that had to be done. When Paul was 15 he left school and started work at a local nursery, initially he wanted to join the Royal Navy to train to become a chef, however, he got a job at a nursery growing roses and other plants and realised his love of the outdoors and growing his own things was more of a pull than the navy. Paul used to nurture and produce up to 10,000 roses of his own every year. Things changed and eventually, Paul got married and worked in a factory, but missed the pull of the great outdoors and gardening, so to fill this void he began maintaining neighbours and friends gardens when he wasn't working. He divorced soon after and gained the daunting task of raising two daughters on his own, to provide a great life for them, he undertook more and more of what he loved, gardening and landscaping. By the time Paul met his now-wife Cathy he had a very good sized customer base but was still working as a hygienist in a factory. He and Cathy talked and Cathy juggled some figures and they decided that Paul should do what he loved full time, so in September 2016 Paul gave up his job at the factory, bought his first works van and Paul Smith Landscape and Gardening Services was born. The business took off very quickly, his customer base grew and grew mostly through word of mouth and it became the business it is today.
